Installation & Einrichtung VMware vCenter Server Appliance unter VMware 5.5

1. Appliance herunterladen

2. Über OVF Vorlage installieren.

3. Dann ist Appliance bald installiert, dann geht's an die Einrichtung

4.Appliance booten

5. im Browser anmelden mit "root" & "vmware" über folgende url: https://192.168.x.x:5480/

6. EULA akzeptieren.

7. Assistenten mit "cancel" abbrechen

8. Netzwerk konfigurieren, speichern, booten und neu anmelden

9. jetzt Setup wizard starten mit "Configure with default settings"
                          

10. das rödelt dann eine Weile und wahrscheinlich gibt's einen Fehler (auf Grund von DNS Problemen)

11. also DNS fixen oder folgenden Workaround:
mit SSH (putty) auf console einloggen (root,vmware) und mit vi die ipadresse (hier 10.10.10.105) in die hosts eintragen

na, das sieht doch besser aus !

12. ordentliches Passwort vergeben, Zeitdienst einstellen, rebooten und in den Autostart des ESX eintragen und fertig !

Office 2010 Produktaktivierung schlägt fehl (Fehler: 0x80070190) ???

Die Produktaktivierung von Office 2010 (mit VolumenLizenz) auf einem Terminalserver schlägt manchmal fehl. Folgendes könnte helfen:

Admin Konsole öffnen und:

Im Verzeichnis vom Office

cscript ospp.vbs /act

ausführen, dann rödelt es ein bischen und das Office ist aktiviert !!!

Ach so, der entsprechende Ordner unerscheidet sich je nach Officeversion, also 32 oder 64 bit!

Installation CIM Provider in VMWARE 5.1

Zum Betrieb des LSI Storagemanagers ist es notwendig, den CIM Provider zu installieren und so geht das:

1. ssh aktivieren auf dem esx (-Sicherheitsprofil -Dienste -ssh)

2. vmware-esx-provider-lsiprovider.vib von lsi runterladen,
Archivname ist z.B.  00_37_V0_04_SMIS_VMware_Installer.zip

3. die *.vib datei per scp zum esx nach /tmp kopieren

4.per putty: cd /usr/bin

4. esxcli software vib install -v /tmp/vmware-esx-provider-lsiprovider.vib --no-sig-check

5.  Erfolgsmeldung :Message: The update completed successfully, but the system needs to be rebooted for the changes to be effective. Reboot Required: true

6. reboot

7. nach dem Boot sollte unter Hardware der Controller dargestellt werden.

Wichtig ist, das im Netzwerk für den esxi host ein gültiger Hostname vom DNS-Server aufgelöst wird. Wenn dort was nicht stimmt, kann man sich nicht im Storage Manager anmelden. In der Liste der Systeme steht der esxi dann mit 0.0.0.0 drin ! 

copy und paste in Vcenter

To be able to copy and paste between the guest operating system and the remote console, you must enable the Copy and Paste options using the vSphere Client. Alternatively, you can use RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) to connect to the Windows virtual machines.

To enable this option for a specific virtual machine:

Note: VMware Tools must be installed for Copy and Paste to work.

1. Log in to a vCenter Server system using the vSphere Client and power off the virtual machine.
2. Select the virtual machine and click the Summary tab.
3. Click Edit Settings.
4. Navigate to Options > Advanced > General and click Configuration Parameters.
5. Click Add Row.
6. Type these values in the Name and Value columns:

   • isolation.tools.copy.disable    false
   • isolation.tools.paste.disable   false
   Note: These options override any settings made in the VMware Tools control panel of the guest operating system.
7. Click OK to close the Configuration Parameters dialog, and click OK again to close the Virtual Machine Properties dialog.
8. Power on the virtual machine.

Note: If you vMotion a virtual machine to a host where the isolation.tools.*="FALSE" is already set, the copy and paste options are automatically activated for that virtual machine.

To enable this option for all the virtual machines in the ESX/ESXi host:

1. Log in to the ESX/ESXi host as a root user.
2. Take a backup of the /etc/vmware/config file.
3. Open the /etc/vmware/config file using a text editor.
4. Add these entries to the file:
   
   vmx.fullpath = "/bin/vmx"
   isolation.tools.copy.disable="FALSE"
isolation.tools.paste.disable="FALSE"
5. Save and close the file.
   
   The Copy and Paste options are only enabled when the virtual machines restart or resume the next time or shutdown and power-on the virtual machine for changes to take effect.  This must be done on the virtual machine side, not the guest OS side.

Note: These options do not persist after the host upgrade. If you upgrade to a newer version after enabling these options, the changes are lost and you may have to re-enable them.

inaktive Geräte in Windows 7 und Server 2008 anzeigen

admin CMD aufrufen,

mmc im gleichen fenster starten

im mmc den Gerätemanager einbauen und unter Ansicht 

Servicepack Backupfiles auf Windows Server entfernen

einfach auf der ADMIN Konsole eingeben:

DISM.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /spsuperseded

Internal error 28173 beim Installieren von vCenter 5.1.0 auf Windows Server 2012

Beim Installieren des vCenters tritt unter Windows Server 2012 der folgende Fehler auf:

Ursache: Das DotNet Framework 3.5 muss mit Windows Bordmitteln installiert werden. Dann läuft die Installation fehlerfrei durch.

Beim Installieren des DotNet kann es vorkommen, das die Sourcen nicht gefunden werden, dann sollte man das CD-LAUFWERK:\sources\sxs als alternativer Source-Pfad angeben.
